Our History
*1980– Following a year of mission work, Holy Cross Lutheran Church was chartered September 14, 1980 and received into the Sierra Pacific Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. The Congregation first worshiped in member’s homes and the Holiday Inn pm S. Virginia St.
*1982—First Live Nativity held on the Church property and the Live Nativity structure built. The Live Nativity has been a Christmas Gift to the Community for more than 40 years. Easter Sunrise Service held at Windy Hill Park, and every Easter Sunrise for more than 40 years.
*1984/85–Church Building was built and dedicated on June 16, 1985
*1986- The Angel/Giving tree began and continues to be a hallmark of our service and outreach ministry-giving to support needs in our community and the world. The Prayer Chain began and continues, providing prayer support for all.
*2005–Excess parcel of land sold to Silver Sage Manor, nonprofit senior affordable housing developer.
* 2007- Silver Sage Senior Residence opens, 41 Affordable Apartments, providing quality housing that assists low income seniors to successfully age in place.
2007-Sunday School, recognizing the diversity of our community, adopted the broadly inclusive Godly Play program.
*2015—Fellowship Hall addition and refurbishment of Sanctuary completed; expanding our Worship, education/faith formation, fellowship space and enhancing our capacity to reach out to our community.
*2020-Memorial Garden & Outdoor Worship Space completed. The Memorial Garden provides a resting place for cremains of loved ones and those who grieve.
